What goes in a funeral order of service
Families usually have a day or two to put this together. Here is what to gather, in the order we will need it.

Arranging an order of service is not something anybody has practice at, and it usually has to happen inside forty eight hours. If you know what to gather before you sit down, it takes a fraction of the time.
The front carries a photograph, the full name, and the dates. Choose the photograph first, because everything else is quicker once that is settled. It does not need to be recent or formal. The one people recognise is the right one, and if the only copy is an old print we can scan and retouch it the same day.
Inside runs the order of the service itself: the entrance music, the readings with who is reading them, the hymns in full, the homily or tribute, the prayers, and the closing music. Get the hymn words from the church rather than the internet, because versions differ and the congregation will be singing from your booklet.
The back is usually an acknowledgement thanking people for their sympathy, and often a verse or a prayer. Some families add a page of photographs at the back, which is a lovely thing and costs very little extra.
Send us what you have, even if it is incomplete. We will lay it out, send a proof for you to check with the celebrant, and print once you are happy. Same day where we can, because we know what the timescale is like.
Got a question we have not covered?
Call in to 7 Monaghan Street or ring the shop. We would rather tell you something will not work before you pay for it.
