Getting things off formats nobody can play any more. Video tapes, cine reels, slides, negatives, vinyl and audio cassettes, transferred to a USB stick, a DVD, or both if you want one to keep and one to pass round. The originals always come back to you.
PriceQuoted per job. Bring it in and we will price it while you wait.
Video tapes to USB, DVD or both
VHS, VHS-C, Betamax, Video8, Hi8 and MiniDV, transferred to a USB stick, burnt to DVD, or both together. Tape degrades and the machines that play it are getting harder to find, so if it matters, do it now rather than in five years.
Slides and negatives
Boxes of 35mm slides and strips of negatives scanned at a resolution worth having, with dust and scratch reduction where the film needs it. This is the one people put off for twenty years and then wish they had done sooner.
Cine film
Standard 8, Super 8 and 16mm, transferred frame by frame rather than pointed at a wall and filmed. Most reels are shorter than people remember, so the cost is usually lower than expected.
Audio
Vinyl, audio cassettes and reel to reel onto CD or as digital files. Wedding speeches, band recordings and family tapes mostly.
Common questions
Do I get the originals back?
Always. Nothing is destroyed and nothing is kept.
What do I get it on?
USB stick, DVD, both, or a download link. USB is what most people take now, though families often want a DVD as well so it can be passed round.
How long does it take?
Depends on the volume. A shoebox of slides is quicker than twenty video tapes, because tape transfers happen in real time.
Bring it into the shop
Most of this is quoted once we have seen it. Call in to Monaghan Street, or ring and describe what you have.
